Mónica Oliveira Costa graduated from the Catholic University of Lisbon, Portugal and undertook post-graduate studies in consumer and in IT law. She is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2002 and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) since 2012.

Monica’s practice focuses on data protection, e-commerce, IT, life-sciences, consumer, marketing and advertising law. She has written articles on data protection, the Portugal chapter for the European Lawyer Reference Series guidebook ‘Data Protection & Privacy’ (since the first edition, Thomson Reuters) and for Getting the Deal Through – Data Protection & Privacy 2013 – 2015 (Law Business Research Ltd.). She co-authored the Portugal chapter of Getting the Deal Through – Telecoms & Media” Editions 2011 – 2013 (Law Business Research Ltd.) and has regularly spoken on data protection law in Portugal and abroad, at the Annual European Data Protection Intensive (2008-2011).

Mónica was recognized as an Information Technology leading private practice lawyer in Portugal by Who’s Who Legal Information Technology since 2013 and Telecoms and Media since 2017, as well as by Expert Guides in Information Technology, since 2015 and IP and TMT by the Legal 500 since 2016.
